Breast Cancer tag renewals. I am happy to report that the General Assembly last year approved HB 1006, legislation I introduced to allow funds from renewals of the Breast Cancer License plate to support breast cancer prevention programs, screenings and treatments. Presently, only the revenues from the original sale of plates support community programs. In 2005, approximately $570,000 in renewal proceeds went to the Georgia Department of Revenue. Under HB 1006, those funds will in the future support Georgians affected by breast cancer. Read more...
